Mahalo to those who have done this…

Ke mahalo aku nei au ia oukou,

I’m really feeling very grateful that I get to teach Hawaiian full-time. This is what I want to be doing, and it’s possible because of you guys.

I’m truly grateful to my students who took my first course. Your support allowed me to make an Intermediate course for you.

I’m currently working with a family member, who is an editor, to revise the Beginner’s course - which you will have access to when I’m done. (If you bought it, that is.)

Both of my Hawaiian language courses are based on my methodology for learning, which is to focus on structure and plug in vocabulary as you learn it. Mastering even one structure, opens up doors for a variety of expressions. For example:

Ua hele na keiki i ka hale kuai—The kids went to the store.

Ua kuai oe i ka wai—Did you buy water?

Ua akaaka makou i kela kanaka—We (all) laughed at that guy.

Ua hanai aku nei au ia Mili—I just fed Mili.

Just like the truth, sentence structures will set you free. (See what I did there?) And I am all about structure. It will make using Hawaiian on a practical, daily basis so much easier.

Have you put up lists of Hawaiian words to use around your home? What is a phrase you would like to use everyday?
