A reminder for this holiday season!
Sep 01, 2023Aloha kakou i keia mahina hope o ka makahiki!
How do you feel about holidays? Do you get into it or do you just kind of go along with it all because your family enjoys it? (I’m more of a Grinch than a Christmas Elf, myself…)
You might have a lot going on this month but don’t lose your momentum!
Remember to stay consistent with the language. Don’t get too lazy, and don’t get so carried away with all the holiday cheer and eggnog that you forget about your goals.
Remember the 4 things you need to do: LISTEN, READ, WRITE and SPEAK in Hawaiian.
One way to improve your Hawaiian this month is to write down the questions that come up during the holidays. For example, “What is the word for ___________?” or, “How do I say ____________?” This will help make learning the language more relative to your life.
As you build your vocabulary, focus on Native speech and listen to Native speakers because that’s who we want to sound like.
For the next two weeks, I will be teaming up with my wife, Emily at Kaulumaika to bring you helpful handouts with practical phrases you can use and share this holiday season.
Aloha,
Malu
